After application

The first 24 hours

The henna paste needs time to dry and absorb. How you treat it in this window determines the depth of your stain.

01

Leave the paste on

Keep the paste on for a minimum of 6–8 hours — overnight is ideal. The longer it stays, the deeper the stain.

02

Seal with lemon & sugar

Once the paste has dried, dab gently with a lemon and sugar mixture. This helps the paste adhere and intensifies the colour.

03

Wrap for warmth

Wrap loosely overnight to retain warmth. Warmth deepens the stain — avoid cold draughts on freshly applied henna.

04

Scrape, don't wash

When removing the paste, scrape it off gently with a blunt edge. Avoid water for at least 6 hours after removal.

05

Apply a natural oil

Once the paste is removed, rub in a little coconut or olive oil. This seals the stain and helps it develop to its full depth.

06

Avoid water & soap

For the first 24 hours after removal, keep the design away from water, soap, and cleaning products. The stain continues to oxidise and darken during this time.

Making it last

Extend your stain

Moisturise daily

Apply coconut oil, shea butter, or any natural oil to the design each day. Hydrated skin holds the stain longer.

Avoid prolonged soaking

Long baths, swimming, and dishwashing all fade henna faster. Wear gloves for household tasks where possible.

Skip exfoliants

Scrubs, exfoliating gloves, and chemical exfoliants remove the top layer of skin — and your henna with it.

Expect 1–3 weeks

Natural henna typically lasts 1–3 weeks depending on skin type, placement, and aftercare. Palms stain deepest and last longest.

Cone storage

Storing your cones

If you've purchased cones and aren't using them immediately, store them in the freezer in an airtight bag. They keep for up to 6 months frozen. Defrost at room temperature for 30 minutes before use — never microwave.

Freshly made cones are best used within 2 weeks at room temperature, or within 3 days once opened.
